Nothing like sunshine and beautiful clear water along with a sharp price to win over a buyer. Of the 9 sales since May 1, 2011, 1 was lakefront and 5 were oceanfront. There are many buyers looking right now so it is a great time to list your home.
If you are planning a trip to Pender Island over the Canada Day long weekend, you may want to take part in the festivities. The celebration begins at 11 am on July 1st with a parade of flags at the Driftwood Centre followed by some speeches, activities, and entertainement. In the early afternoon bring the kids to Hope Bay Bible Camp for games, hot dogs and ice cream. Finish the day with a delicious dinner at the Royal Canadian Legion. As for real estate, there are lots of new listings coming up for the season. The listings that are sharply priced conitnue to get most activity as well as offers. These are QR codes (Quick Response codes) and what they do is transfer information to your cell phone. Pender Island Realty has added QR codes on all our listing signs so Buyers can now access listing information with their iphones when driving by a listed property. All you need is an app to read the QR code, then just point your camera at the code, click the scan option and the app brings up the listing info on your phone. What are the expectations for 2011? Well, according to the BC Real Estate Association, we are to expect an increase in residential sales by about 6% across BC (Housing Forecast, Fall 2010). Specifically for the Victoria Real Estate Board, the projection is an increase of 5% in sales with prices expected to remain stable with a possible decline of about 1% (BCREA Housing Forecast, Fall 2010). As 2011 is getting into full swing, Buyers are turning their attention to Pender Island again. We are off to a good start with 3 pending sales reported as of January 1, 2011.
